A similar update is planned for Europe and now it looks like the update is already live in Canada as Samsung Canada has remotely updated Note 7 handsets to limit its charging to 60%. The update will be pretty much the same as what we can expect from the other Note 7s around the world, where users will also be constantly prompted to return their devices, as well as reminders that they are banned from bringing the phone on board airplanes.
While the numbers might have gone down since we last heard, but last month there were an estimated 1 million or so Note 7 handsets left in the wild. Over in the US Samsung claims that at least 85% of the handsets they’ve sold have since been recalled. The company has also provided various incentives such as credit, as well as launched return kiosks at airports to facilitate the returns/refunds, but we guess despite all of that some people just refuse to do so.
