Malicious Link Will Cause iOS Devices To Crash

As much as some would love to claim, Apple’s iOS platform is exactly what you would call bulletproof against hacks and malware. Granted there aren’t as many malwares out there aimed at iOS devices, but in the past there have been quite a few major security flaws within iOS that have been discovered.

The most recently comes in the form of a malicious link that when clicked will take users to a glitched out 3-second clip, will cause an iOS device to freeze up and crash, and will take a hard reboot for your device to get back up and running again. For obvious reasons we won’t be providing you guys the link, but you can find it in the video above courtesy of EverythingApplePro who decided to demonstrate what will happen should you click on it.

They call it a “prank” and we guess to a certain extent it does seem to be harmless and more annoying than malicious. However it does serve to point out that there is something within iOS that can be exploited to cause devices to crash. There does not appear to be a fix available for this particular flaw just yet, but presumably now that this has been made public, hopefully Apple will address it soon.

This issue also reminds us of 2015 where users receiving a message within the Messages app containing certain characters would see their phones crashing and rebooting.
