Out of all the The Legend of Zelda titles that have been released to date, we have to say that Majora’s Mask is probably one of the darker and creepier games in the franchise to date. It also makes for a pretty interesting movie, that is if Nintendo were to ever get around to making that a reality. However in the meantime, this fan made version is pretty awesome.
Dubbed “Terrible Fate”, this short fan made film was put together by the folks at Ember Lab which consists of a team of artists who specialize in VFX, animation, and games. The description reads, “A tribute to the legendary game, this short showcases Skull Kid’s dark origin story. Our take on how the Zelda Universe could be realized in film. A labor of love for all those involved, this is a gift to the fans.”
We have to say that this is some next level animation, at least as far as fan made efforts are concerned. We’ve seen fan made films in the past, and while some of them are pretty good, this film could easily pass off as a professional piece of work done by bigger studios like Pixar. It could even be a cinematic inside a Zelda game for all we know.
Unfortunately it runs for less than 5 minutes which is kind of a pity considering that it leaves us wanting more. We’re not sure if there will ever be a Zelda movie in the near future, but considering that there are plans to make a movie based on Tetris, a trilogy no less, a Zelda movie certainly makes a lot more sense.
