It seems that if you are looking forward to seeing more smartwatches in 2017, your wish could be granted because according to a bunch of trademark filings, it looks like LG has several potential smartwatches and smartwatch features in the works that could debut next year either CES 2017 or maybe even MWC.
According to the trademark filings, LG has filed for names such as LG Watch Style, LG Watch Force, LG Watch Pro, LG Watch Sole, and LG Watch Pay. All of these sound like potential smartwatch names, save for LG Watch Pay which sounds that LG could be interested in launching a mobile payment services that works on smartwatches as well.
Unfortunately apart from the names, not much else is known about these devices. It is possible that LG is simply trying to protect its intellectual property, so maybe none of these devices will ever materialize. However it does seem a bit odd for LG to launch so many different smartwatches, especially when this year the company and other major Android Wear OEMs passed on launching new devices.
In any case we guess we’ll have no choice but to keep an eye out for these devices, so remember to check back with us in the near future for more updates.
