According to Kim Hyung-jung, senior vice president and head of LG Mobile’s research and development, “At LG, we know our customers want the best, most up-to-date mobile experience. Getting software updates to our users faster than the competition is our way of demonstrating that LG is committed to supporting our products and customers to ensure they have a positive ownership experience.”
As it stands LG is one of the few OEMs who are pushing out the update this early on in the game. Last we checked, even Samsung is working on a beta program for the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, so it looks like LG might have beaten them to the punch. While the update is going live in Korea first, LG does expect that it will make its way to their other LG G5 customers in the US and Asia in the coming weeks.
Note that this update is only for the LG G5. We’re not sure what the status is for LG’s other phones, like the LG G4 or the LG V10 from 2015, but hopefully they won’t be forgotten.
