Apple is expected to introduce a revolutionary update to the iPhone next year as it commemorates the 10th anniversary of the product that has done so much for the company. Rumors have suggested that an iPhone with curved screen may also be on the agenda for next year and now a major publication has backed up those claims, adding that Apple has asked suppliers to increase output of thin OLED displays and submit prototypes for testing.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is currently testing as many as 10 different prototypes for next year’s iPhone so we’re bound to hear a lot of theories about what the iPhone 8 is going to be while the possibility for big changes still remains.
At least one of the several prototypes Apple is testing is said to feature a curved OLED display. Apple has long been rumored to make a shift to curved OLED displays for the iPhone but that hasn’t happened yet and the company itself hasn’t given an indication of when it might make the switch. Many suggest that Apple is going to take this major step with the iPhone 8 next year.
The scribe is of this view as well. It predicts that Apple might launch an iPhone with curved screen as early as next year. Only Apple knows whether or not that’s true and it’s not like the company is going tell anyone at this point in time.
