It’s not uncommon for new software updates to trip something up even though they normally bring stability and performance improvements. Apple’s official changelog for iOS 10.1.1 mentions that the update brings “stability improvements and bug fixes,” but it appears to be causing battery drain for iPhone users. Quite a few users have now reported iOS 10.1.1 iPhone battery issues that they weren’t facing prior to updating their handsets.
iOS 10.1.1 iPhone battery issues involve unexpected draining of the battery. A thread has also been opened on Apple’s support site where customers say they are facing this issue on handsets including the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s. Their devices are unable to last an entire day even after being fully charged. Some are reporting that they rapidly lose up to 50 percent of the battery.
This issue with iOS has been reported soon after Apple agreed to swap the batteries on a very small number of iPhone 6s handsets that were prematurely losing charge due to what might be an inherent issue which doesn’t seem to affect most iPhone 6 units out there, and there are quite a few of them.
Apple hasn’t officially commented on this as yet so it’s unclear what’s causing this problem and if the company has a fix in the pipeline. We’ll certainly update when we hear more about this.
