iHome’s SmartMonitor With HomeKit Support Is Now Shipping

If you are looking to make your home “smarter”, there are a bunch of different gadgets in the market today that can do that. We have the Nest smart thermostat, we also have the Philips Hue smart light bulbs, we have smart locks, smart kettles, and so on, and recently iHome has added another product to the mix: the iHome SmartMonitor.

As the name suggests, this is a monitoring device for your home that can monitor multiple things at once, meaning that you won’t need to buy multiple products to monitor different things. This is a 5-in-1 monitor which means that it will be able to monitor humidity levels, the temperature, sound, light, and motion.

Based on this, it can also be used to trigger other appliances in your home. For example if it detects that when there is sound, lights can be turned on. Or when it is getting a bit hot, the fans can be turned on (and off when it has cooled down), or turning on a dehumidifier when the humidity levels get a bit high.

The best part is that it will work with iHome’s Smart Plugs, so if you have gadgets at home that aren’t necessarily a “smart” gadget, you’ll be able to connect them to the Smart Plug and have them work with the SmartMonitor. The SmartMonitor is priced at $80 and is compatible with Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem and will be available via the company’s website.
