Google WiFi Now Available For Pre-Order

While Google’s OnHub router is more of your typical router for the home or office, last month Google took the wraps off Google WiFi, a hockey puck-shaped looking device that seemed to be both router and WiFi extender combined into one. For those who are looking to get their hands on it, Google has announced that they are now taking pre-orders for it.

For those who missed the announcement, Google has positioned the Google WiFi as a router that can create a WiFi mesh in your home or office. Users will be able to setup multiple Google WiFi devices around the room, meaning that if positioned correctly, you should be able to blanket the entire area with WiFi, thus reducing the number of dead spots.

According to Google, “Since all the Wifi points are connected to each other, data can take several paths toward its destination — and we use our Network Assist technology to ensure that Google Wifi points always choose the fastest route from your device to the internet. This means that you get faster Wi-Fi speeds for things like streaming and gaming.”

If you’ve ever used a WiFi extender, we guess this almost does the same thing. Google claims that a single Google WiFi will cover up to 1,500 square feet and is priced at $129. If you want to blanket your entire home, a 3-pack will be sold at $300 and will be able to cost 4,500 square feet. The device will begin shipping out to customers on the 6th of December.
