Since Google owns Android you can expect the platform to get preferential treatment when it comes to updates for apps that are available on both Android and iOS. Now it may not have done that deliberately, but the Gmail for iOS app has long been lacking features that Android users already have. That changes today as the latest update for Gmail for iOS brings a lot of the same features that are already present on the Android app.
Google today rolled out new updates for its Gmail and Calendar apps for iOS. The app finally gets the ability to retract a sent message through the “undo” feature that’s available for users on the web as well on the Android app.
iOS users can now swipe left or right on an email to archive or delete it. This feature has been present on Gmail for Android for a few years now and users will surely be glad that it’s finally making its way to the iOS app.
The new app also has the ability to provide instant search results just like it can on Google’s own operating system. Google also says that users will notice that the Gmail for iOS app is faster than it has ever been before, it basically means that this is one of the improvements that’s going to be immediately evident when people start using it.
