Unfortunately the answer is no. According to a report from The Investor, it seems that Samsung has hinted that if they were to integrate Harman’s audio technology into mobile devices, chances are it will only happen in 2018, which means the Galaxy S9, assuming that’s what Samsung will be calling it then.
This is according to Park Jong-hwan, senior vice president and head of Samsung’s car parts division, who was quoted as saying, “If we are to adopt Harman’s high-end audio technology for the Galaxy S series phone, the first model could come in 2018.” Of course we should point out that Park is head of the car parts division, not mobile, so maybe there are plans in the mobile division that he might not be up to date with, but either way we guess you shouldn’t get your hopes up.
That being said, Samsung’s acquisition of Harman had less to do with creating audio products, but more about creating hardware for cars. Given that the future involves connected vehicles, it makes sense that Samsung wants to get in early on it.
