So why would anyone want to do that? 2K is the publisher behind NBA 2K17 and it seems that they have worked out some kind of deal with Fitbit in which players who manage to log at least 10,000 steps a day on their Fitbit devices will improve their performance for the next five games that they play on the same day.
It has been suggested by health experts that walking 10,000 steps a day is conducive to good health (amongst other things like eating right, getting enough sleep, etc.), so basically if you can achieve that daily, not only should your health improve, but you’ll perform better in NBA 2K17 as well. It’s not exactly the most “wow” of rewards, but if you get to improve your fitness as a side effect of playing games, then why not, right?
We suppose gamers could come up with ways to game the system, but then it kind of defeats the purpose.
