Mozilla today announced the launch of Firefox Focus, its new free, fast, and private browser for iOS. The company’s objective with this browser is to make the web feel less cluttered for users. It’s being billed as the perfect browser for the times when users don’t want to leave a record on their phone. The private browsing feature is good but it’s not like the feature doesn’t already exist in popular browsers like Chrome or Safari. Firefox Focus does take it a step further, though.
Mozilla says that Firefox Focus blocks many of the trackers that follow users around the web by default. This means they don’t have to change any settings to block them. All it takes to erase entire sessions is just a single tap.
The company adds since most of the trackers are blocked users will notice a performance boost as well on sites that track their behavior. Occasionally users might come across a website that doesn’t work because it depends on tracking, and users don’t mind that kind of tracking, they can easily open it in either Firefox or Safari.
The best part is that Firefox Focus has been released as a free app that’s now available for download via the App Store.
