Last year Blizzard announced that they will be releasing the Nova Covert Ops DLC for StarCraft 2 this year, and at BlizzCon 2016 this year, the company announced that they will be launching the third and final pack of the DLC later this month which will effectively end the DLC’s campaign.
In case you’re learning about this for the first time, Blizzard has described it, “In nine action-strategy missions spanning three mission packs, you’ll play as Nova Terra, the Dominion’s most powerful Ghost, and undertake assignments that are as dangerous as they are vital to the survival of the Dominion: infiltrating enemy bases, intercepting planetary invasions, helming experimental stealth ships, and other top-secret operations.”
It should be noted that the latest StarCraft 2 expansion, Legacy of the Void, will be the final game that is part of the current StarCraft storyline, meaning that future releases will most probably see us being introduced to a brand new story and new characters. The Nova Covert Ops DLC is kind of like a sneak preview of that future.
Of course this doesn’t mean that Blizzard will be ending support for StarCraft 2. The developer also announced that moving forward, there are more features and content being planned for the game such as new Arcade features, Custom Tournaments, a new “Watch” tab, and so on. In any case if you are interested in getting your hands on Nova Covert Ops, it is priced at $15 for all 3 mission packs, or alternatively you’ll be able to buy them for $7.50 each.
