According to Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he revealed that they are making changes to its mobile app to focus more on video. “In most social apps today, a text box is still the default way we share. Soon, we believe a camera will be the main way that we share.” This should be surprising given that Facebook recently announced that they had manage to pass 1 billion mobile daily active users.
This means that there are a lot of eyeballs already on the mobile app, so it looks like Facebook already has an audience as far as videos are concerned. This will no doubt help them leverage deals with content creators, advertisers, and more. We’ve already seen Facebook start this transition by launching Facebook Live, a feature on mobile that lets users create live streams on the go.
Recently the company also revealed that they were testing out filters similar to Prisma and Snapchat on its mobile app.
