The Prisma app quickly became popular as users liked the impressive photo filters that it applied to their pictures. It has launched a new feature today that brings those filters to Facebook Live broadcasts. The Prisma app has been updated to enable users to start broadcasting live via Facebook. The app will give them the option to apply one of eight Prisma filters to their live streams.
The only caveat – and the biggest one – is that this feature is limited to the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 7 right now. Prisma’s developers say this is because applying photo filters to live video broadcasts requires a lot of processing power and this is only possible on newer phones since all processing is done on the handset itself.
When users switch from Photos to Videos in the Prisma app they will see a new “Live Stream” button which enables them to broadcast live via Facebook. They can the choose any one of the eight filters to add a bit of flair to their broadcast.
This feature is only limited to the iOS app for now and it’s unclear when it will be added to the Android app, there are many Android handsets out there capable of doing what the iPhones mentioned above can do. Prisma has promised to bring GIF support to the app as well as add more social sharing options. It has also promised to improve photo quality and speed up offline processing times.
