These days it is becoming more common for people to start outfitting their homes with smarter appliances. Apple has tried to capitalize on this by launching HomeKit, and with iOS 10 they have made it even easier for users to control HomeKit-enabled devices from their smartphones and tablets. If you are looking to expand your HomeKit-enabled collection, Elgato’s Eve Motion might be of interest to you.
As you can see in the image above and also judging by its name, the Eve Motion is essentially a motion sensor for your home. There are all kinds of reasons for using motion sensors, such as to alert you when someone has entered the room or your home, and it can also be used to automate certain things like turning on/off the lights when someone walks in, and so on.
Eve Motion is a HomeKit-enabled device and will connect via Bluetooth and does not require a bridge. It runs on two AA batteries which means that no charging is required and users can just easily replace them when they’re out of juice. Elgato is boasting a 120-degree field of view, a range of 9m, and a response time of 2 seconds. It is also IPX3 certified.
There is also an accompanying app that makes a note whenever it detects movement. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, the Elgato Eve Motion is available for purchase via its website for $50.
