DJI unveiled its Inspire 2 drone earlier this month, it stands out from the rest because it has two cameras onboard. The Chinese manufacturer also initially said that the drone will be able to fly at a top speed of 67 miles-per-hour but it’s now making a change. The DJI Inspire 2 drone top speed has been reduced from 67mph to 58mph. The drone’s 0-50mph time has subsequently increased as well.
DJI has primarily launched the Inspire 2 drone with filmmakers in mind hence the two cameras onboard. It also has other features like obstacle tracking as well as a new image processing system which relies on an onboard SSD.
According to DJI, the Inspire 2 drone is now going to take five seconds to go from 0-50mph and not four seconds as previously promised. The company says that this change has been made to ensure that speeds “does not compromise video quality and stability.”
Therefore it makes sense why DJI would want to prioritize video quality over sheer speed because it would defeat the very purpose of this drone, which is to enable filmmakers to capture amazing drone shots using the Inspire 2.
It’s a minor change, but it’s a change nonetheless. DJI has said that it’s going to offer full refunds to customers who placed a pre-order for an Inspire 2 and don’t want to buy any more now that it’s a little bit slower.
