The Thanksgiving holiday shopping frenzy isn’t over yet even though one of the biggest sales event of the year – Black Friday – is now over. Cyber Monday is here which means that people are still spending ridiculous amounts of money online to take advantage of all the discounts and deals being offered. Adobe estimates that Cyber Monday 2016 online sales will cross $3.36 billion. Early data shows that more than $540 billion has already been brought in between midnight and 10 am ET.
If Adobe’s forecast turns out to be true, $3.36 billion in online sales on Cyber Monday 2016 will result in a 9.4 percent year-over-year growth for the sales event.
The company’s forecast is based on aggregated and anonymous data from 23 billion visits to retail websites. The retail reports measure 80 percent of all online transactions from the top 100 retailers in the United States.
As we saw with Black Friday 2016 online sales, mobile devices appear to be generating a lot of business. Mobile accounts for 56 percent of the visits on Cyber Monday so far and 38 percent of the sales.
Best-selling devices by units on Cyber Monday include the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, Samsung 4K TVs, iPads, Amazon Fire devices, and more. Interestingly, Lego sets currently hold the number one spot for most units sold and most revenue generated.
