Blacksmith Forges Genji’s Sword From Overwatch In Real-Life

Leading up to the release of World of Warcraft: Legion, Blizzard teamed up with Tony Swatton from Man At Arms to recreate iconic weapons from the Warcraft franchise. Now it seems that Man At Arms is back and with the team from Baltimore Knife and Sword, they have recreated Genji’s sword from Overwatch.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Overwatch is the latest franchise from Blizzard. It represents a completely new title which isn’t tied in with any of Blizzard’s previous games (i.e. Hearthstone has Warcraft elements, and Heroes of the Storm is an amalgamation of all of Blizzard’s games). It is a first-person action game that features characters wielding guns and swords, with Genji being one of those sword-wielding characters.

However what makes Genji’s sword so unique and so awesome is that it isn’t any regular blade, but at blade with a glowing green edge. The blacksmiths have tried to recreate this by encasing light inside some plexiglass. Of course this means that it probably isn’t as strong as an actual sword, but as a display weapon it certainly looks pretty cool.

In any case if you have some time to spare, you can check out the entire forging process in the video above.
