If you were hoping to get your hands on the Bayonetta or Cloud Amiibo figurines, both of which were scheduled for a release in 2016, you’d be out of luck because according to a report from Let’s Play Video Games, both figurines have apparently been delayed until 2017, with the main reason being that Nintendo wanted them to be launched alongside the Switch console.
The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s upcoming console and while the official list of games has yet to be revealed, it’s safe to say that several Wii U first-party games will most likely make the list. One of those games is said to be Super Smash Bros and the delay of the Amiibos is because Nintendo wanted to launch them together with the Switch-ported version of the game.
At this point it is unclear if the port will be simply that, a port of the original game, or if we could be looking at new content and features that would take advantage of some of the Switch’s features, like its alleged touchscreen and its controllers. However Let’s Play Video Games claims that it will contain all the DLC released so far, so gamers won’t have to worry about having to catch up.
In any case Nintendo has been keeping mum on the details of the console so far. They have scheduled a conference in January 2017 in which those details will be presented, so until then take it with a grain of salt, and remember to check back with us next year for the details.
