Smartphone OEMs like Philips have introduced “anti-blue” displays to their lineup, and Apple has introduced a Night Shift mode which adjusts the temperature of your phone’s display. Now it looks like Samsung will be introducing their own blue light filter, thanks to a post on Reddit in which the feature was spotted in the Android 7.0 Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge.
According to a screenshot of the feature posted by Redditor gameplaygoon, it seems that the blue light filter feature shares some similarities with iOS’ Night Shift, in which users are able to set a time when the feature can be turned on/off automatically, which is pretty handy since it means you don’t need to do anything on your end.
We haven’t tested it out for ourselves so we can’t say how effective it is, but if it is anything like other similar features we’ve seen, it should get the job done just fine. Google themselves have been experimenting with a Night Mode feature on Android, but for some reason the feature which has been spotted in the developer previews has never made the final cut.
