In fact it seems that Prime could be set to become very enticing to sports enthusiasts. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, word on the street has it that Amazon could be considering adding the ability to live stream sporting events for Prime members. Amazon has apparently been in talks with the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and the National Football League for the rights to live stream their games.
Other sports such as soccer, lacrosse and surfing leagues are also reportedly being considered. The report also adds that Amazon could also be considering a “skinny bundle”, which are basically just the live online channels which could be ideal for those who don’t really want the other features offered by Prime. Unsurprisingly Amazon declined to comment on the rumors.
That being said, trying to acquire these rights might not be quite as easy as there are other platforms who have already secured live streaming deals of their own, such as Twitter and Yahoo. Whether or not such a service will materialize remains to be seen, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
