We have been consistently hearing rumors over the past couple of months that the Galaxy S8 is going to be the first Samsung smartphone to ship with a 4K display. Those rumors have now been contradicted by the latest from China which suggests that Samsung is going to stick with the Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Samsung has not ruled out either possibility right now so we’ll only know for sure when the handset arrives early next year.
Samsung has been offering bits and pieces of information about the Galaxy S8 in a bid get the hype machine going and get its fans to focus on what’s next instead of everything that has happened with the Galaxy Note 7.
The latest rumor suggests that the Galaxy S8 is going to have a 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution display. It also claims that since Samsung’s suppliers haven’t received any orders for parts that make up the home button, it’s likely that Samsung might be doing away with they physical home button altogether.
If that really is the case, it means that there really is some truth to the rumors that the Galaxy S8 is going to have a near fullscreen display. Eliminating the home button is one of the ways to achieve that and the rumor mill believes it to be a possibility.
Samsung was expected to launch the Galaxy S8 in February next year but another report today claimed that the launch might be delayed to April as Samsung will conduct additional quality tests on its next flagship to ensure that there’s not a repeat of its Galaxy Note 7 woes.
