Now as for the owners of the phone who have suffered from damaged property, it seems that they have one additional thing to get mad over: Samsung’s apparent refusal to cover their damages. According to a report, one owner of the Note 7 claims that when his phone set some of his furniture and possessions on fire following its explosion, it cost him a repair bill worth $9,000.
The owner, John Barwick, then claims that Samsung then referred him to the company’s insurance firm, Samsung Fire & Marine, who apparently refused to pay replacement costs of the damaged items, and instead offered up a depreciated value of the items which obviously did not sit well with Barwick.
We suppose to be fair Samsung might be doing this to try and discourage scammers from trying to claim compensation too, but clearly it is rubbing customers the wrong way. We have recently heard that Samsung is apparently planning a compensation program for Note 7 customers that could involve discounts on future devices, like 2017’s Galaxy S8.
