When Nintendo unveiled the Switch, it seemed to have created more questions than answer them. By not explicitly stating what is what, it left a lot of the video trailer open to interpretation and speculation, which we reckon Nintendo would have to spend a lot more time clearing it up as opposed to if they were simply rumors.
One of those question is, will the Switch offer up a dual-screen gaming experience like the 3DS or the Wii U with the GamePad? Now this was not shown in the video, but since Nintendo did state that they haven’t shown us everything yet, is a dual-screen experience possible? The simple answer is no, according to Polygon who reached out to Nintendo for clarification.
According to Nintendo, “Nintendo Switch is dedicated to deliver a single-screen experience, on whatever screen you might choose.” In case you didn’t know, the tablet-like device of the Switch is actually the heart/core of the console, and the dock is simply that: a dock which will allow the Switch to be played on a big screen like a TV.
We suppose a single-screen experience isn’t necessarily a bad thing (depending on who you ask), although we’re guessing there will be some Wii U fans who might miss the unique dual-screen experience. In any case Nintendo is keeping mum on the Switch for now and more information is only expected to be shared in 2017.
