Apple’s products have never been considered cheap. At best you could say about some of their products is that it’s value for money, but the term cheap has never really been used in the same sentence to describe an Apple product, and the company’s latest MacBook Pros are no exception, with the cheapest 13-inch model priced at $1,500.
However those are the prices in the US, but for those in the UK, it’s an entire different story because it looks like thanks to the financial fallout of Brexit, the new MacBook Pros in the UK seem downright unaffordable. According to the recent comparison of the prices before the upgrade, the cheapest MacBook Pro was priced at £999. Following the upgrade, it is now priced starting at £1,449. That’s almost a 50% increase from before!
Taking a look at the 15-inch MacBook Pro, the base model is priced at £1,599 in the UK prior to the upgrade, but it is now priced at £2,349, meaning that UK residents would have to fork out almost £800, and we’d hate to think what the discrepancy between the highest option from before the upgrade and after the upgrade.
Apple declined to explain the reason behind the huge leap, but a spokesperson did state that Apple does adjust prices from time to time based on exchange rates. We should also note that Apple isn’t the only company who has had to make these changes. Recently Microsoft announced price hikes along with HTC who had to increase the price of its HTC Vive headsets.
