There’s a lot happening in the world of electric cars these days and Henrik Fisker will soon be making his mark in this market once again. His company Fisker, Inc. is going to come out with a brand new electric car in 2017. The new Fisker must not be confused with the old Fisker which was bought by Chinese auto parts giant Wanxiang and later relaunched as Karma Automotive. Fisker, Inc. is a new company that’s going to introduce a new electric car next year.

Henrik Fisker is a man well known in automotive circles. He was the lead designer of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Aston Martin DB9. The first electric car that the new Fisker is going to introduce next year is going to be a “spiritual successor” to the Fisker Karma.

The new company has also been working on battery technology under a separate division called Fisker Nanotech. It’s unclear what battery technology it’s working on that’s going to different from the lithium-ion batteries we find in existing electric cars but the company suggests that the new batteries which might contain some lithium will provide better charge life and improved range.

Fisker will first be launching a premium all-electric car next year with a claimed mileage of 400 miles on a single charge, if it’s able to achieve that it’s certainly going to be an industry leading figure, the company is going to follow that car up with a mass-market electric car that will cost below $40,000. Fisker hasn’t said how much the Karma’s spiritual successor is going to cost.
