However we guess Nokia wants to keep it a secret, assuming that is the case, but it looks like it is no longer a secret as Microsoft exec James Rutherfoord seems to have confirmed Nokia’s plans. Speaking to Vietnamese publication CAND.com.vn, the CEO of mobile device commodities of Microsoft Asia – Pacific claims that HMD Global will be launching two new Nokia-branded phones in Q4 2016, and Q2 2017.
For those a little confused as to who HMD Global is, basically they are the company that has managed to obtain the license from Nokia to manufacture phones with their brand. As you might have heard, Nokia is out of the phone business as far as manufacturing them is concerned, so while the Nokia brand lives on in mobile devices, other companies will be making them instead.
In any case we guess more details should surface in the coming weeks or months if a Q4 2016 launch is in the cards, so do check back with us in the near future for more information.
