Speaking at The Wall Street Journal’s WSJDLive 2016 global technology conference, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella admitted that the company had most probably missed out on mobile. “We clearly missed mobile. There is no question.” However it seems that while it might have been a huge missed opportunity, Nadella doesn’t seem to show much regret and is instead focusing on moving forward into new areas.
One of those areas is into the field of augmented reality with Microsoft’s HoloLens device, a field which no doubt got a huge boost thanks to Niantic’s Pokemon GO which showcased the huge potential that augmented reality could have as far as the gaming scene is concerned. Now this doesn’t mean that Microsoft is out of mobile completely.
We have heard that the company was planning on killing its Lumia lineup at the end of the year, but we have also heard that the company is still working on the much-rumored Surface Phone that may or may not make an appearance in 2017.
