So the question is, will users also be able to use Touch ID for unlocking their MacBook Pros? We suppose one could assume yes, we could, but it’s always better to be certain, right? Now thanks to the folks at 9to5Mac, more assets in the latest macOS Sierra build have been revealed and as you can see in the image above, it shows Touch ID overlaid on top of a lock icon.
According to 9to5Mac, “Apple currently uses a similar padlock icon in System Preferences and elsewhere to indicate when a password is required, so it’s not much of a stretch to imagine this might be the Touch ID version of that for the new MacBook Pros.” We have to agree with their assessment, plus it makes sense as well since Touch ID on the iPads and iPhones can be used for Apple Pay and also for unlocking the devices.
In any case we guess all will be officially revealed come 27th of October, which is this coming Thursday, so remember to check back with us then for the details. In the meantime who else is excited for Apple’s new MacBook Pros?
