LG’s Ultrafines Are Apple’s New Standalone Displays

Ever since Apple announced that they would be discontinuing the Thunderbolt Display, many wondered if we would be seeing a replacement, one possibly with a similar 5K display that is used in the iMac. Sure enough Apple has obliged us all, in fashion, during their MacBook Pro event earlier today, but here’s a twist: the new displays are from LG.

In case you missed the announcement which saw the reveal of the new MacBook Pro, Apple also unveiled new displays that would play nicely with their laptops in the form of the LG Ultrafine displays. These displays have been designed specifically for use with the new MacBook and MacBook Pro models and come in 5K 27-inch model and a 21.5-inch 4K model.

Both of these displays will come with built-in speakers along with a FaceTime-ready camera and a microphone. Also because of its Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, it will be capable of charging of your MacBook at the same time you are using it, talk about efficiency! However the only downside here would be its price, which is unfortunately nothing short of expensive.

The 21.5-inch model is set at $700, while the larger 27-inch model will retail for $1,300. Granted there are options out there that are cheaper, but if you’re looking for a dedicated display designed specifically for your new MacBook, then we guess this is it.
