With the rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S8 already making their rounds, it’s safe to say that LG definitely has their work cut out for them. So far the company has had some success with their LG G-series, although this year the LG G5 did not do as well and neither did its modular accessories take off.
However it seems that next year’s LG G6 doesn’t sound too exciting either. Recently we heard reports that next year’s LG G6 might not feature a curved display. Apparently LG Display does not have the production capacity it needs in order to meet the demand for a curved display. Now there are rumors that the LG G6 might not come with fast wireless charging technology either.
According to reports out of Korea, word has it that LG has been developing a new wireless charging tech that will apparently be faster and can event transmit from up to 7cm away. This means that technically your phone won’t need to be on the charging mat itself. However the reports claim that it might not be ready in time for the LG G6, and that if and when it debuts, it will most likely be with the LG G7 in 2018.
Now to be fair, LG has never confirmed or promised any of these features. However they are features that we’re sure many customers would not mind. It is a bit too early to tell what else the LG G6 could be packing under the hood to make it a more compelling purchase, but for now it seems that we can at the very least rule out curved displays and fast wireless charging tech.
