Google unveiled its first “Made by Google” smartphone about a week ago. The Pixel has been made inside and out by Google and it’s not shy to advertise that fact. Customers in India can now place their pre-orders for the Pixel and Pixel XL. Both handsets are available for pre-order in the country starting today, online retailer Flipkart currently has both models listed as available online.
The Pixel more or less takes the baton from the Nexus lineup. Google has already confirmed that it has no plans of launching any more Nexus devices. The idea here is the same: offer a stock Android experience and fast updates in a package that can take on the best of them. It has used metal and glass in the construction of the Pixel which gives it a more premium look and feel, as well as a higher price tag.
Customers in India can pre-order the Pixel in both 32GB and 128GB storage options while the Pixel XL is only available with 128GB of storage. Prices start at INR 57,000 or $850 for the 32GB Pixel, INR 66,000 or $985 for the 128GB Pixel and INR 76,000 or $1,135 for the Pixel XL with 128 gigs of storage.
Flipkart currently has the handsets in only the Quite Black color. Google has said that the Pixel will be available for pre-order in the Very Silver color as well by the end of the day.
