It seems that Google is taking a similar approach because according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Google is said to have hired writers from companies like Pixar and The Onion to help infuse some personality into its Assistant platform, which is bundled into devices like the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, and Google Home.
Given that Pixar is known for its humorous animated films and The Onion’s satirical nature for its articles, it does sound like Google has made some pretty good choices when choosing writers to help give the Assistant more of a personality. However as pointed out by 9to5Google, it’s strange that despite Google’s desire to humanize Assistant, they did not give it a more human name unlike Siri, Alexa, or even Cortana.
In any case we guess it’s still too early to tell how Google’s efforts will pay off with the Assistant and Google Home, but it does sound like they might be onto something.
