Galaxy S8’s Development Delayed Following Note 7’s Investigation

With Samsung finding themselves without a second flagship smartphone for the year of 2016, safe to say that the company was eager to try and make up for lost time which is why we had initially heard the reports that the Galaxy S8 could be launched sooner to help fill the void that was the Note 7.

Unfortunately there is a chance that the phone could actually be delayed. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Samsung had apparently chosen to delay the development of the Galaxy S8 by two weeks following the investigation into the Note 7 explosions, although last we heard Samsung was still clueless as to what the exact cause might be.

Now it is entirely possible that this delay might not affect the launch of the Galaxy S8 since Samsung has yet to officially confirm when the phone will be released, but a two week delay is a pretty significant one. The Galaxy S7/S7 Edge handsets were launched in March 2016 earlier this year, so many are assuming we could be looking at similar dates for 2017. However if this delay has affected the launch date, perhaps an April launch could be in the cards.

That being said, we’re sure that Samsung is eager to try and wipe this incident from the memories of their customers, so obviously a brand new feature-packed phone like the Galaxy S8 could get the job done. However here’s hoping that Samsung takes their time with it because last thing the company needs is another round of recalls. In the meantime Note 7 customers will be able to pick themselves up a Galaxy S8 next year for 50% off.
