The good news for Delta passengers is that if you were to use the airlines’ app, you will be able to track your luggage in real-time. According to Bill Lentsch, Delta’s senior vice president — airline operations and airport customer service, “From the moment our customers drop off their bag, we want them to know we’re looking out for it every step of the way and working to take the stress out of flying, one innovation at a time.”
So how does this work? Does this mean that you will need to own one of those fancy luggages with an electronic tag in order to track it? Thankfully you won’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars for that privilege because according to Delta, all checked bags will be given a RFID tag that allows it to be tracked, with the information then being sent back to the app on the user’s phone.
This will no doubt help to expedite the process in the event a luggage gets lost. As it stands, the technology is being employed across 84 airports in the US, but here’s hoping that it will eventually become a standard feature for all airlines and airports around the world.
