As you might have heard, Fox’s Deadpool 2 has lost its original director, Tim Miller, who reportedly parted ways with the film over creative differences with Deadpool 2’s lead actor, Ryan Reynolds. This pretty much left things up in the air over who will be taking over the directorial duties, but a report from Deadline has revealed some potential candidates.
According to Deadline, one of the frontrunners for the director’s position is John Wick‘s David Leitch. Apparently he is a favorite to take over the movie’s directing, but at the same time it isn’t necessarily a done deal yet as other directors have also been pitching to Fox their own ideas for the movie.
At least two other names have been thrown into the ring which includes Drew Goddard (who wrote episodes of Netflix’s Daredevil and was also the writer and executive producer for The Martian) and Magnus Martens, the latter of which directed an episode of Netflix’s Luke Cage and a couple of episodes of Banshee.
It is unclear yet as to who will be taking over Miller’s role as the new director of the movie, but here’s hoping that they find someone soon. In the meantime Deadpool 2 has been set for a release on the 12th of January, 2018, so hopefully the search for the movie’s new director won’t result in its release being delayed.
