That being said, what does this mean for the OS 10 platform? Will it be killed off? The good news for fans is that it will live on. This is according to an interview with BlackBerry’s Alex Thurber in which he said, “We continue to support the BlackBerry 10 operating system; some companies are interested in licensing it for handsets.”
Thurber goes on to add, “If it’s a solid business model going forward, we’ll work with a 3rd manufacturer. But we’re not close enough to say we’re going to do that.” What this means is that support for OS 10 will carry on as per usual for now, and in the future depending on demand and if it is viable, it is possible that maybe new BlackBerry OS 10 handsets could be made.
However we have to say that we are a bit skeptical. It isn’t surprising that BlackBerry still wants to hold onto its own operating system, but let’s face it, it has been a while since a BlackBerry OS 10 device was released before the company started making Android phones, but who knows, maybe we’ll be surprised one day.
