EA has confirmed the Battlefield 1 Rent-a-Server Program today. This program will allow players to create their own private and public Battlefield 1 servers where they will have control of gameplay options such as map rotations. Players will thus be able to create games that better suit their play style and of those who they play with. EA has confirmed that the Rent-a-Server Program will be started soon after the game is launched.
Players will be able to rent a server via the in-game store of Battlefield 1. EA previously outsourced the job of handling servers to third-parties but it’s now going to provide them directly for Battlefield 1.
This will be beneficial for players as EA is able to control the quality of hardware and provide support directly instead of relying on a third party for that as well. Customizable gameplay options on a rent a server include map rotations, server name, game mode, multiple gameplay settings, and more.
EA has said that it might restrict the number of game modes at launch and gradually enable them after receiving feedback from the community. It promises to keep adding customization options and UI design throughout the rest of this year. More details about this program will be revealed closer to launch.
