You would think so and we wouldn’t blame you if you did, but it seems that the sales figures don’t lie because if anything, Battlefield 1 seems to be doing better than its predecessors, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline, and has actually managed to outsell both titles in its first week of availability.
Note that this aren’t the official figures but were instead reported by Chart-Track. Prior to this, EA had revealed that they expected to sell just under 15 million copies of the game in its first year, although given this early success we wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to beat their own expectations.
That being said, there are some potential competitors coming up that could affect its sales. One of those titles is Titanfall 2 which is another game published by EA. Then in November we are also looking at the release of Activision’s latest Call of Duty franchise which has long been seen as a rival to EA’s Battlefield, but we guess we’ll just have to wait until then to get the details.
