So earlier today we reported that Apple’s MacBook launch for October was still on schedule. This is despite the fact that we’re approaching the third week of October and there are still no invites from the Cupertino company yet. However it looks like we might not have to worry because we now have a tentative date.
According to the folks at Recode, they have heard from their sources that Apple is planning an event for the 27th of October in which the new MacBooks will be announced. We suppose this is cutting it a bit close, but at least we have a date to look forward to. Granted it isn’t official yet, but Recode does have a pretty good rep when it comes to such rumors, so perhaps there is some truth in it.
The event is expected to see the launch of the revamped MacBook Pros. It is rumored that these new laptops will feature an OLED touchpanel in place of the function keys. It is also rumored that Apple could be dropping the old USB ports in favor of USB-C, which we guess is to be expected but we reckon will still prove to be highly inconvenient at this point in time.
The rumors are also claiming that we could be looking at a new 13-inch MacBook Air, but the 11-inch model is said to be untouched. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but if the 27th of October rumors are true we should be expecting an invite very, very soon.
