In an announcement by Google, the company has revealed that Android Pay will be making its way to Hong Kong, meaning that residents in Hong Kong with the Android Pay app and who own a smartphone that is compatible will be able to start using their mobile devices to make payments.
According to Google, “Hongkongers can now use Android Pay at over 5,000 locations in Hong Kong where contactless payments are accepted, including stores such as at 7-Eleven, Circle K, Fortress, Mannings, Maxim’s Cakes, MX, McDonald’s, Pacific Coffee, PARKnSHOP, SmarTone, Watsons, Wellcome and more. Android Pay also stores your gift cards, loyalty cards and special offers right on your phone.”
It isn’t as widespread as of yet due to the fact that the service only just launched, but it does seem that Android Pay will cover some of the more popular venues like 7-11 and McDonald’s, just to name a few. In addition there will also be support for Android Pay within apps like Boutir Collect, Deliveroo, Kaligo, and more.
