If you thought that was inconvenient already, it seems that Amtrak has also announced that the phone will not be allowed to be brought onto trains as well. This will also apply to Thruway buses, facilities, stations, and platforms as you can see in the warning image above, in which safety concerns have been cited as one of the main reasons for this.
So far Samsung has been setting up booths at various airports around the world where customers with the phone can make a last minute exchange for another Samsung device. This is a pretty clever idea especially for passengers who aren’t allowed to board because of their phone and who are finding out about the ban at the very last minute.
That being said, we have heard reports that there are still about 1 million or so Note 7s still out there in the wild. It is unclear as to why these customers have yet to make the exchange, but if you are still holding onto the handset, perhaps it’s time to return it and get a “safer” device.
