Apple’s AirPods Have Been Delayed With No New Date In Sight

The solution to the iPhone 7’s lack of a headphone jack is to go wireless, and Apple has readily provided us with an answer in the form of the AirPods. These are basically wireless earbuds that look like the EarPods with their cables cut off. They do look a little strange although from early reviews based on hands-on demonstrations, they appear to work great.

The AirPods were also due for a release in October, but given that we are approaching the end of the month with no release in sight, what gives? The bad news for customers is that the AirPods have been delayed. This is according to a statement that Apple has since provided to the folks at TechCruch.

According to the statement given by an Apple spokesperson, “The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers.” Unfortunately no new date was mentioned, so basically we are in for a wait which could take a few weeks or even a few months.

Like we said, early reviews have been pretty positive but as TechCrunch points out, the versions offered during the demonstration had some flaws, but in all fairness those were pre-production units. Some users who got them early have also reported some physical defects, although whether or not this was the reason behind the delay is anyone’s guess.
