Huawei has scheduled an event in the first week of November to unveil two new handsets which the rumor mill believes to be the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. A lot has been rumored so far about these two devices, and the latest suggests that both the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro will feature 4x optical zoom and that a fully spec’d out version of the latter is going to cost as much as $1,300. That’s MacBook territory.
The rumor comes from none other than prolific Twitter leaker @evleaks who claims that both variants of Huawei’s next flagship feature 4x optical zoom. He also says the top-of-the-line Mate 9 Pro model is going to cost a whopping $1,300.
A purported Huawei Mate 9 manual was leaked recently which reiterated rumors that this handset will feature a dual camera on the back, it appears to be the same dual lens Leica Summarit H 1:2.2/27 ASPH camera found on the Huawei P9. The manual also reveals that the Mate 9 comes with a dual tone LED flash as well as a USB Type-C port.
The display is believed to be one major difference between the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. The former is expected to feature a 5.9 inch flat full HD display while the Mate 9 Pro is rumored to tout a 5.9 inch dual edge curved QHD display. Additional specs include Huawei’s new Kirin 960 processor, up to 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
We’ll only know for sure what the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro are capable of when Huawei makes the official announcement on November 3rd.
Snap (no pun intended): Mate 9/Pro feature 4x optical zoom. But pricing on a spec'ed out Pro is enough to give you a heart attack: $1300.
