This is according to a report from Motherboard who was told by a Samsung spokesperson that the Galaxy Note 7 units that have been manufactured will be disposed of and will not be repair, refurbished, or resold ever again. The spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We have a process in place to safely dispose of the phones.”
Based on this it really seems like this is pretty much the end for the Note 7 lineup, and without doubt there will also be some heads that will be rolling back at Samsung as this incident is said to have cost the company at least $17 billion in lost revenue from the phones they were predicted to have made and sold during the product cycle.
It is rather unfortunate and if recent investigations are any accurate, there’s really nothing Samsung could have done as the design of the phone itself is said to be one of the causes of the problem, meaning that unless Samsung created an entire brand new design, like we said, nothing could have been done.
