Xiaomi showcased an Android TV-powered set-top box at Google I/O earlier this year. We got to see the set-top box in all its glory but the company did not confirm precisely when it would release this product and how much it’s going to charge for it. A new report published today suggests that the Xiaomi Android TV set-top box is going to be released next month and that it will be priced under $100.
A competitive price for this product isn’t going to surprise anyone. One of the major reasons why Xiaomi is where it is today is because the company offers its products at very attractive prices.
TechCrunch reports that the Android TV set-top box is going to be the first mainstream product that Xiaomi is going to sell in the United States and that it may be released as soon as October. A confirmed price is not known but the scribe says that the set-top box may cost under $100.
Xiaomi’s upcoming set-top box is capable of streaming 4K video at 60 frames-per-second and features support for Dolby Digital Plus. It’s powered by a quadcore ARM processor with 2GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage. Android TV provides access to all games and apps that you would expect to find on an Android TV device.
Xiaomi is yet to officially comment on this report or provide confirmed information about the price and availability of its Android TV set-top box.
