According to the report by PCGamesN, Blizzard was quoted as saying, “We knew this expansion was going to be something for the books, but reception has just blown us away. The early reviews are coming in, they’re really positive. Fan reception has been phenomenal. Concurrency – we’ve had to check and triple check our numbers, because it’s the highest they’ve been in recent memory. Several years, for sure.”
It should be noted that no numbers were shared, but as you might recall, last year Blizzard made the decision to stop sharing World of Warcraft’s subscriber numbers. This means that it’s really anyone’s guess as to what the numbers are now that Legion has been released, but considering that World of Warcraft’s subscription numbers are on the decline, we can only imagine that Legion must be doing really well for Blizzard to make that statement.
In any case it shouldn’t be surprising that World of Warcraft’s subscribers are on the decline given how old the game is. Last we checked it was at 5.5 million which is low for the game, but we reckon those are still numbers that many developers would love to see.
