Over at Verizon, the carrier has made it abundantly clear that the versions that are being sold are the “safe” units. “Available now the new Galaxy Note7. The Galaxy Note7 was previously recalled on September 9th by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) due to an issue with the device’s battery. This new Galaxy Note7 has been approved by the (CPSC) for all purchases and exchanges.”
As for Sprint, the carrier does not appear to have bothered with any comment but we can only assume that they are responsible enough to sell the safe units. Of course there are ways to tell if the unit you bought is safe, such as checking against the IMEI, or you can turn on the phone and if it has the green battery indicator then that means your phone is safe as well.
Now last we checked, Samsung had stated that they had brought in 500,000 units of the Note 7 into the US. We assumed that they were all meant for exchanges, but it is possible that some of those units have been set aside for carriers/retailers, although right now it seems that only Verizon and Sprint have resumed sales.
